Haiti Trip Update
Here’s
a quick update on my Haiti trip:
I
want to thank everyone who has supported my trip so far. Your prayers and donations
are so appreciated! I’ve raised enough money to cover all of my expenses as
well as purchase some knitting supplies to take with me. I think I will even
have extra to donate to The Apparent Project.
A
lot of people have asked about my travel details. I will be leaving Eugene on
August 7th and will be in Haiti until August 30th. That
gives me just over three weeks of time in Haiti.
I've been spending lots of time doing things like working on lesson plans for
knitting classes, learning a few words in Haitian Creole, and reading up about
the culture, getting vaccines, purchasing traveler’s insurance, sorting out
yarn donations and communicating with Shelley at The Apparent Project about the
trip.
I've received more than two boxes full of yarn donations and was contacted this week
by a company that is sending two more! A ministry called Rays of Hope arranges
sea container shipping into Haiti for The Apparent Project and I’ll be able to
ship the boxes inexpensively through them. I’m also collected old prescription
and reading glasses. Let me know if you have any to donate.
If
you would like to support my trip to Haiti financially, contact me. It can be
done through cash, check or PayPal and can be run through my grandparent’s ministry
if you need a tax receipt.
The
best way to get updates is to following my blog or my Facebook/Google +. If you
would like to receive updates via email or snail mail send me your address! Click to see the original post about my trip and my prayer cards.
Thank you,
Jessamyn
