Vintage Finds!

I've had some great luck with vintage shopping lately. I found a dress for the Valentine's Day Formal several weeks ago in a great little shop. When I drove by it last Sunday they were having a sidewalk sale and everything was $1! That same day we found some great hats and coats at a garage sale. Peace got this beautiful periwinkle hat with fabric roses, velvet ribbon bows and a delicate veil. ($5) A cameo necklace on a gold chain ($1) and gold flower earrings ($1.) Peace's pink overcoat ($10) and white enamel brooch ($1.) Soft off-white jacket ($1) and gold leaf brooch ($1.) My fabulous Valentine's Day Formal dress ($35.) It's made of stiff taffeta in an indescribable color with a full skirt and black velvet collar set off by rhinestones. I topped it off with finger-waved hair, black gloves, and black velvet pumps from a thrift store ($8.) Unfortunately the fabric is delicate and the underarm ripped while I was dancing. It's mend-able.

Knitting for Haiti

I'm throwing a benefit craft sale for The Apparent Project, (check out ) a ministry in Haiti that's run by a friend of my aunt's. I've been using up all my yarn remnants on projects to sell. A striped beanie and fingerless glove set. (Thank you to my lovely sister Peace for modeling.) A lacy black cap. A mustard yellow slouchy beret with a lacy stitch pattern. (I made up the pattern for this one. I'll try to get it up soon) A fluffly little teal scarf. An olive green bow. I'm currently working on a brown striped purse with pink ruffles (inspired by the ruffly scarf pattern .)

My Latest Projects

Last week I went to a Hawk Nelson concert. I had an old t-shirt signed by them, but it just didn't fit right, so about 3 hours before the concert I decided it needed some modification. I cut off the sleeves and shoulders, hand-gathered the back and made a little bow out of a zipper to put on the back. I made Julia Child's chocolate souffle for Valentine's Day. It fell a little bit. The week leading up to Valentine's Day is supposed to be Chocolate Week at our house, but we were busy and it's dragged on to more of month. Gabriel made chocolate dipped cocoa peanut butter balls last week. A few other things we've made lately that I don't have pictures of are cinnamon rolls, egg drop soup, chai tea cookies (which were really good) and panini with spinach, chicken sausage, pesto, cheese and avacado. We're having a "Pie Friday" at my Shakespeare class in a few weeks and I'm planning on chocolate peanut butter pie with ganache topping and Nut
