The was introduced to these by my friend over at A Vibrant Medley. We had a Sherlock fangirl t-shirt and mug making day. She had one of the special pens that are supposed to be more dishwasher safe, but I found that I had to handwash mine anyway, or the ink started scratching off.

Even my awful handwriting looks pretty good one of these. |
I made a more challenging one using colored Sharpies for a friend's birthday in the fall, doing a series of three pictures: a TARDIS, Union Flag, and Sherlock Holme's Silouhette.
More recently, I did some with initials for a wedding gift.
The great thing about this project is that it's super forgiving. I'm not much for drawing anything, especially free-hand, but all the ones I've done have come out looking really good anyway.
There are tons of tutorials for these online, such as this one from A Beautiful Mess.
Do you have any favorite projects to make as gifts?
